DOVVE'S MAP v5.5 (Final Update)
http://peacefairchild.tripod.com/

What's this all about?

I got tired of not knowing where I was exactly in the world of Rubi-ka. Coordinates are so cumbersome and I wanted an easy way to get my bearings. After flying along all the zone edges and taking readings I was able to put together a map with accurate borders and points of interest. I have found it extremely helpful to date. I hope you do too.

Although I am no longer taking suggestions (as I no longer will be playing AO or making updates to this map) please feel free to send your comments to: peacefairchild@hotmail.com I'll still check my mail from time to time. Please also see "Usage and Distribution" at the bottom of this document. Thanks so much to everyone for all their support and kindness. I will miss you all dearly.

Special Thanks

To Aranin for all his hard work hacking scripts and figuring out how to get the map work in version 14.4 I'd have been lost without you :). To Jhanarr for helping me make my first map only skins and all the great information on his website (http://www.matthewcornish.org/ao/skin/). To Kuren for all his help and support (http://www.kuren.org/ao/). To Dhurdahl for his great mapping tools. To all the players for their great feedback and additions. Many thanks to all of you :))

Quirks

Some zone lines are impossible to map exactly due to the way funcom mapped the player marker positions. You may find in some areas that the zone borders are accurate on one side of the zone border but not on the other.

Installing the Map

NOTE: If you have AO running and don't want to quit, you can install the map file without quitting. Just be sure the world map is closed before you replace the files.

1) Unzip "dovvesmap5.5.zip" using WinZip or another zip utility.
2) Open your "Funcom\Anarchy Online\cd_image\textures\PlanetMap\normal" folder.
3) Backup the contents of the "normal" folder.
4) Locate the "dovvesmap5.5\normal" folder and copy the contents (2 files) into AO's "normal" folder.

NOTE:You MUST replace BOTH files ("PlanetMapGfxNormal.bin" AND "PlanetMapIndexNormal.txt") or AO may crash!

5) Launch AO and enjoy your new map :)
